Mazut Mainly, fuel oil is defined as any liquid that is burned in furnaces, boilers or used in a power generation engines.

Fuel oil is obtained from distilled crude oil having a flash-point of approximately 40 ° C.

According to this definition, diesel is a type of fuel oil. Fuel oil is composed of long hydrocarbon chains, particularly alkanes, cycloalkanes and aromatics and placed in the classification of heavy industrial fuels, heavier than gas-oil and Naphtha.This material is also used as fuel for ships (Filthy fuel / Dirty Oil).

In considering such application, its viscosity has significant importance. Viscosity should be suitable for mazut pumping.

The chain length of produced fuel oil, varies, depending on the application. For instance diesel fuel oil is formed with a hydrocarbons chain length of 10 to 20 carbon atoms.

C14H30 – C15H32 – C16H34 – C17H36 – C18H38 – C19H40 – C20H42
